Area Attractions

Eagle Rock Reservation is home to the Essex County September 11 Memorial, which is a few hundred meters from the event center, and includes an overlook with an excellent view of NYC. It is from this overlook that many observed the unfolding events on that fateful day back in 2001. The site includes a World Trade Center artifact.

Also located in the park, ala Central Park’s Tavern on the Green, is the Highlawn Pavilion restaurant. It is a highly regarded establishment, which (unlike the Tavern) offers a magnificent view (same as the 9/11 Memorial). Please note that it has a dress code.

The Edison National Historic Site is down the hill from the Reservation. It’s worth checking out, even if you’re a Tesla fan (Nikola Tesla, the inventor of alternating current).
